There are a lot of potpourris out there, and some are very inexpensive.
Our potpourri, regardless of which one you pick, has been made with the
following in mind:
100% natural flowers, herbs, leaves or dried fruit
Never any fillers like wood, wood chips or shavings, or corn cob
chips
We never use dyed products
Almost all of our ingredients have a natural scent, which is further enhanced with our premium oils. For example, in our Apple Potpourri, you will find dried apples, pink rose buds and petals, red rosebuds and petals, sunflower petals, calendula petals and bay leaves. We slice and dry our apples in our workshop, and use only the finest ingredients we can buy. When combined with our apple oil, it is no wonder that it is the most popular potpourri in our shop, as well as in our wholesale business.
I thought that the oil used in potpourri created the scent?
This depends on what the potpourri maker has chosen to do. If you put oil on a piece of pumice, or in a bowl, you will have the scent of the oil. This may explain why many products on the market contain wood chips. If you put enough oil on them, they will no longer smell like wood, but take on the scent of the oil. What happens when the oil has all vaporized? (It is the vapors that we smell.) You are left with the scent of wood plus the other ingredients. And what about inferior oils? They vaporize quickly and some change scent as the potpourri ages due to the different rates of vaporization of the components. What you start with for a scent may not be what you have two months later.
We solve all of these problems by making sure that our potpourri is as beautiful to the eye as it is to the nose. (Photos) Our apple potpourri is made of approximately 1/3 apples and 1/3 rose buds and petals by weight. These natural scents are reinforced and supported by our premium potpourri oils that not only last a long time, but will have the same scent three months from now as the day you got it.
My Potpourri has lost it's scent. Do I have to buy more?
We would love for you to buy more, but realistically you can save yourself some money by buying refresher oil. Our refresher oils are the same premium oils that we put in our potpourris when we make them. Thus, the original scent can be restored using just a few drops of the oil. A small bottle will last a long time.....for years! The natural scent of your ingredients will dissipate with time. They will also be enhanced by the oil, as the oil will pick up some of the locked up scents in your ingredients, but these will decrease with time. We suggest that you refresh with premium oils and then replace every 2 years.
