40+ Known as African Daisies, Osteospermum is a tender perennial that works well as an annual. The daisy-like flowers close each night and re-open each morning once the sun is directly on them. Osteospermum plants grow 10 - 12 inches, with a mounding growth habit. They are well-suited for the front of the border or in containers. The Osteospermum African Daisy blooms best when the nights are still cool. In the heat of summer with warm nights, their blooming will taper off, but in late summer with cooler nights the plants will perk up and put on a fresh array of blooms. African Daisy care includes regular deadheading to encourage new blooms, and a light trim during the summer will help promote the fall display of blooms after the weather cools off. Osteospermum seeds can be started indoors or directly outdoors in a prepared seedbed. Sow the flower seeds directly on the surface and very lightly cover. Light is needed for germination. Keep the flower seed moist until germination. When Osteospermum seeds are started indoors, harden off the African Daisy seedlings for 2 weeks before planting outdoors. To promote a bushier plant, pinch back at the time of transplanting. Instructions included. Combined shipping discount...all additional items ship free.
