Manufacturer Description

Actinidia deliciosa. 'Saanichton' FEMALE Information below is only the potential the plant has. You will be receiving one plant between 2.5 and 6 inches in height shipped in a 3 inch deep pot. In some cases some leaves may be removed before shipping. The second picture in the ad shows a range of typical sizes that we ship. Similar to supermarket variety except somewhat more cold tolerant. Handsome vine. Heavily productive and sweet The vines can tolerate part shade but prefer a sunny location where they can ramble up to 30 feet across either a substantial trellis, fence, or patio cover. Kiwi vines can be successfully grown in large containers. Harvest in late fall. Need well-drained soils and large volumes of water during the growing season. Requires strong support to hold up the plants and the abundant fruit. Often begins bearing the year after planting. Flowers in spring and ripens in September. Full or mostly sun. Zones 8-10. Water regularly during the first year to establish an extensive root system. General purpose fertilizer. Grows 20 - 25 feet in length. Prune in winter to control size. Fruit is small with a green interior. Kiwis are dioecious (male and female plants). Each bid for this item is for one plant. One male plant is adequate to pollinate up to 8 female plants if it is centrally located or 3 - 4 female plants if planted in a row. The female plants produce fruit. The male plants do not produce fruit. Overview: Average mature height: 12 - 30 feet. Soil: Well drained, average watering needs. Light: Full to mostly sun. Zones: 8 - 10.
