Chervil Plain (Anthriscus cerefolium) is a biennial. Has a subtle and tender flavour that is part anise, part parsley, it is one of the spices that make up the fine herbs of French cuisine and should not to be overlooked. Chervil is a part of the Carrot family and its leaves are highly similar to carrot tops. The young green leaves who's aroma is resonant to Anise, are collected before they lose their pungency and usually preserved in vinegar.
