Medium-sized lime-green then pinkish berries have superb flavor. Delicious for fresh eating or for unmatched flavor in pies and jellies. Vigorous, bushy, and practically thornless, these plants are very hardy and bear abundant fruit that ripen in July through September. The fruit is easily picked off 1" stems, well away from the small thorns, hence the name Pixwell. Also an attractive ornamental for your landscape.
Cultivation: Gooseberry plants prefer a soil pH of 6.0-6.8. Use a well-draining soil which should be kept moist. Full sun to partial shade. Blooms in early spring, so susceptable to late season freeze. Mildew resistant. Fertilize with 12-12-12 in early spring. Deciduous, cold tolerant and very productive. Zone 3-7.
