Up for bid here is one very cool new plum variety. It is called the Prairie Red plum and is hybrid of American Plum and Japanese plum. It is very cold hardy and developed to grow on the great plains
It is a great fruit tree option for growers in northern climates. They grow to about 15 feet tall and can be wide and bushy. The fruits can be 1.5 inches wide and sweet and edible
They were origianally developed for wildlife and cover but they are also very good tasting to people as well. The plums are reddish to reddish yellow in color and a adaptable to ground types.
These are starter seedlings about 12-24 inches tall. These are hardy from zone 3-8
Pollination seems to require 2 plants, but it is likely that they will pollinate with other American plums or other Japanese plums. Full sun is best for these
