Silvery white plumes bloom on the Ravenna Pampas grass from mid summer through fall. The plumes turn bronze red in fall. Narrow, green leaf blades have thin white stripe down the center. Ravenna is more hardy than true pampas grass. This attractive grass makes a wonderful accent plant for any landscape. The clump forming foliage forms a wonderful screen or property border. Can be used around the periphery of a patio. Use the attractive plumes in cut flower bouquets. Saccharum ravennae grows best in Full Sun. It will grow 8-10' tall with a spread of 5-8'. Plant in zones 4 to 9. Deer resistant. Tolerates black walnuts. Easy to grow in dry to medium, well drained soil. Will NOT tolerate moist or fertile soil and may cause the plant to require staking. No serious insect or disease problems. Water and fertilize regularly. Cut back in early spring before the new shoots appear.
