This is a very common native plant in Vietnam and a standard ingredient in Vietnamese cuisine. The plant is ornamental as well as edible, producing bright green saw-edged leaves with a tangy, lemony flavor. Plant near paths, decks or porches where the refreshing fragrance can be enjoyed.
Can be grown as a perennial in regions with mild winters.
Uses Culinary herb for gardens and containers. A good compliment to beef or poultry dishes and soups. Use fresh in salads, as a garnish, or put a leaf in tea to add a touch of lemon flavor.
